What is structured wiring?

Structured wiring is an efficient method of providing an organized communication infrastructure for your home or business. Whether it is a phone system, cable or satellite TV transmission, security, audio distribution or a home network, structured wiring helps put in place an organized and efficient system.

In order for a proper structured wiring system to work efficiently the lines from all the required rooms will lead to one point in the residence into a distribution panel called the "head end". The lines in the distribution panel are then connected to either a power strip or a splitter called a "hub" making the cables live in all the rooms in the home or place of business. To make the system virtually error-proof, all of these lines are labelled for easy identification.
